A 30 Day Transformation of Culture, Leadership and Accountability

After the Summit of Excellence in July, we opened up the doors to the Director’s Inner Circle for the first time in 2019.

The group of directors who joined the program are committed to their development as the leader of their school and the results are already starting to show, just 30 days into the program.

In the Director's Inner Circle, we focus on long term retention, leadership, skill development and culture building and at the same ensure our leaders get quick wins because it builds momentum.

We also know that when you plug into the right system (our School of Excellence System™ ) you can get transformational results in very little time.

  • It’s small tweaks in the words you are using
  • The way you are showing up for your staff
  • The systems and process you choose to use
  • The boundaries you create
  • The routines you set up to build the school
  • And the way you delegate and become a master of your time

This is just the beginning for this amazing group of school leaders!

Let’s dive into what they are doing and the transformational results that are taking place.

Beginning of the School Year Meeting to Introduce the School Theme

Bina Yeoh from Selangor, Malaysia

Bina Yeo joined the Director’s Inner Circle all the way from Malaysia and has already started to see the benefits of the program. It works wherever you are around the world! Even with a 12 hour time difference she has committed to make it work.

She has started to implement the Gratitude Map and consolidated

Kristie Mabie from Oklahoma

Kristie Mabie from Oklahoma introduced their school theme of “Accountability” at a meeting with their lead teachers.

The school theme anchors the accountability, buy in and focus for the year.

They started to put it in action by sharing one thing that they’ll work on over the next 30 days.

In Kristie’s words:

“It was amazing to see them come together and discuss what it means to them.”

What an incredible start to the year!

Kristen DiPressi Pearce and Margaret Southard from Bright Starts of CNY in New York

Kristen DiPressi Pearce and Margaret Southard from Bright Starts of CNY in New York had a great staff meeting to start of the year.

They talked about what they learned at the Summit of Excellence and some changes they want to implement over the next year.

Renee Fegley from Wilmington Junior Academy Childcare in Delaware

Renee Fegley from Wilmington Junior Academy Childcare in Delaware has had some INCREDIBLE wins in just her first 30 days.

She has already had a great staff meeting with discussions around boundaries, using scripts, introducing standards and more.

Dana Erdheim from New York

Dana Erdheim from New York had an amazing first week back for PD and classroom set up with her teachers. Here's just some of what she accomplished

  • Introduced the school theme of positivity and accountability
  • Engaged in activities and games
  • Wrote a note of gratitude to a teacher
  • Introduced "staff stock"
  • Offered lunch to a classroom
  • Had fun!

What an amazing stack of wins!

Leann Chamberlain from Michigan

Leann Chamberlain also shared a picture of the breakfast she prepare for the first day of our teacher work week.

Such a thoughtful start to a great year!! And part of our Gratitude Map in the Director's Inner Circle!

Joanne Babineau and Pam Penton from Massachusetts

Joanne Babineau and Pam Penton from Massachusetts introduced their theme of “Challenge Yourself” and shared so many amazing takeaways that their staff had.

Here's what Joanne had to say about the experience:

“I am amazed and feel very blessed to be working with all of these wonderful people. I'm not saying some of the other parts of our day weren't challenging but our staff gathering times were full of positive energy, play, team work and reflection. I also want to thank Pam for being on this journey with me and having my back. It feels good. We had a teacher come and tell us that our gathering meetings were great and felt so put together. Pam and I worked hard at that. We never allowed ourselves to leave for the day until we had our plan set for the next day as well as what each of us needed to do."

It just goes to show that when you put the effort in and make a plan for each day, the results happen.

It makes a real difference for your teachers, and they let you know when it's going well.

Self-Care and setting boundaries

Kristen DiPressi Pearce and Margaret Southard from Bright Starts of CNY in New York

Kristen DiPressi Pearce and Margaret Southard from Bright Starts of CNY in New York did a great thing for self-care.

She went to the annual convention for the director sales company that she is a consultant for.

What a great way to take some time out and come back refreshed!

Angela Popoloski Elkins from Massachusetts

Angela Popoloski Elkins from Massachusetts committed to a 5 min walk and did it... even though it was a crazy busy day!

And got to see some furry animal breakfast on the way :)

These leaders KNOW that taking care of themselves in the beginning of the ripple effect and they don’t say the excuse of “I don’t have time.”

Yup, you read right!

Not having time is an excuse to NOT do the work.

But the leaders in the Director's Inner Circle don’t look for excuses; they look for solutions.

Minimizing Distractions and Time to Focus

These times may sound crazy to you right now. 60 minutes of time or 3 hours of time sounds like something you feel you can’t achieve.

I'm here to tell you that you CAN!! It is 100% possible. The system we teach in the school of excellence makes it possible!

Kristie Mabie from Oklahoma

Kristie Mabie closed her door for a FULL hour without interruptions, taking lunch to work and some time away from the office.

(Can you imagine doing something like this?!)

Kristie had only been a member for 30 days when she shared that.

That is how quick you can transform yourself and your school when you plug into a winning system and commit to doing the work.

Kerstin Brinson from Washington

Kerstin Brinson from Washington blocked three hours out so she could watch, rewatch and absorb the content from the Inner Circle.

Blocking out that time to focus on her self-development as a leader will make all the difference to the way she leads her school.

Let the ripple effect begin!

Achieving Great Things

Kristie Mabie from Oklahoma

Kristie Mabie had a one on one meeting with my boss, who praised her for some of the new things she's been doing.

This is also a good motivator to get started with the Gratitude Map, which is one of the core pieces of the Inner Circle.

Bina Yeoh from Selangor, Malaysia

Bina Yeoh shared a big win of how she used the PAR Framework that she learned from Chanie to to assist with swapping some roles within her team.

Asfa Jaffer from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Asfa Jaffer from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, introduced her school theme as well and is bringing her staff together to Challenge themselves!

Even though she lives across the world she has the same wins and challenges as her fellow inner circle directors.

Here she shares some pictures from her staff meeting and how they worked together.

The Gratitude Map in Action

Leann Chamberlain from Michigan

Leann Chamberlain received an email from a family who are loving how their son is transitioning into the new school, so she bought the teachers lunch to thank them (the Gratitude Map at it's finest!)

Kerstin Brinson from Washington

Kerstin Brinson from Washington said:

“After leaving the summit and joining the Director's Inner Circle, I was skeptical about how gratitude can change my culture. But I committed to trying and implementing what Chanie taught. Our call outs have gone down tremendously in all our locations since all our manager starting to implement this!"

Wow, it's incredible what a little bit of appreciation can do!

And when you make it into a system so that you are consistent with it (enter The Gratitude Map from the Inner Circle) the results will be even more apparent.
