Hi, I’m Chanie Wilschanski!

I’m an Early Childhood Leadership Coach and Culture Specialist, and have had the privilege of working with hundreds of Directors who are working to build a school of excellence.

I began my journey over a decade ago, teaching toddlers at the acclaimed Preschool of the Arts in NYC.

Continuing my path into higher studies, I got my Masters in EC and Special Education, and started training teachers and school leaders on the HOW part of creating excellence in their schools.

Throughout my journey, I got married and had 4 children (ages 2, 5, 8 and 9). My hands are full! I know what it takes to lead a large center and have a full-time job at home as well, and it breaks my heart when I see so many dedicated school leaders sacrificing all of their time with their family and all of their self care (what self care?) to a school that feels like it’s constantly getting away from them.

Who is a Teacher of Excellence? (value: $1997)

It’s easy to say you want a teacher of excellence. Who doesn’t, really? But the real question here is how do you define excellence? What is excellent to you may be very different than another school director or owner. After all, your schools likely focus on different things like religion or teaching style. An urban school may have completely different ideals than a rural school.  

Before you can create and nurture teachers of excellence, you need to define what one is for your school. To do that, you need to decide what character traits are most important, what skills your teachers need, and what values they should prioritize.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Work through exercises to help you determine what kind of teachers your school really needs
  • Create a definition of what a Teacher of Excellence is for you
  • Learn how you can help your current teachers work toward excellence and begin to hire teachers based on your school’s true priorities.

      Being a leader in your center means that you are a master juggler. You’re the one the staff counts on for direction, support, feedback, education, and example, but you’re also the person that can’t “turn off” and is always thinking about the center, or school.         Teacher retention is one of the biggest problems school directors and owners face. The average turnover is around 40%, which can be devastating to some schools. But imagine if you could reduce retention by half? Xx, who implemented this Retention System in her school, didn’t have to make any changes to the schedule for 6 months!

        What kind of system does that? The one that you’ll create in the session. While our system is based on gratitude, it may not be what you’re thinking.                   The Summit of Excellence started three years as a small workshop in my living room for 15 school leaders. I was six months pregnant with my fourth child, standing in front of these school directors and owners packed in like sardines on my old couch. We have video of that event, thanks to a local guy I hired, and everyone snacked on bagels from our neighborhood bagel shop. Everyone was so inspired by such a small gathering, and I knew this was the start of something important.
